How it works for you
How we protect athletes
Recruiting means putting your athlete in front of people. Here's exactly what's public, what isn't, and who can see what.
Public only when set to Public
A profile is public only when it's set to Public. Until then it's a Draft that only your athlete, the parents or advocates who've accepted their invite, and RosterBound staff can see. RosterBound staff review each profile before it goes public.
What a public profile shows
Public profiles show your athlete's name, sport, positions, school, grad year, hometown, photo, bio, stats, GPA, intended major and honors, social media handles and film links.
Contact and recruiting details
Contact details, test scores, core GPA, transcript, schedule and parent information are visible only to your athlete, RosterBound staff, verified college coaches, and your athlete's own high school or club coach once they're verified. A high school or club coach counts as your athlete's own only when your athlete lists that coach's email in their contacts. Your athlete decides whether coaches see their phone number.
Date of birth
Date of birth is never shown publicly. Only your athlete and RosterBound staff can see it.
Highlight videos
Uploaded highlight videos can only be watched by your athlete, their invited parents or advocates, RosterBound staff, verified college coaches, and your athlete's own high school or club coach once they're verified. Coaches can watch only while the profile is public, and viewing links expire after a short time.
Target schools and evaluations
Target schools, coach contact notes and RosterBound evaluations are private to your athlete, their invited parents or advocates, and RosterBound staff.
Staff review every coach
Every coach account starts unverified. RosterBound staff review each coach before they can see any private information.
Confirmed email
Coaches must confirm their email address before they can sign in, and a coach's email on RosterBound always matches the email they sign in with.
Invites come from your athlete
Your athlete invites parents or advocates (up to five) from their own account; parents can't add themselves. Once you accept, you can see their profile, target schools, coach contact log and follow-ups, RosterBound evaluations and highlight videos, read-only.
No private messaging
RosterBound doesn't have private messaging. Athletes contact coaches from their own email, so parents can stay copied on every conversation.
How coaches reach out
Verified college coaches, and your athlete's own high school or club coach once they're verified, can see the contact details your athlete adds. The “Recruit This Athlete” form on a public profile goes to RosterBound staff, not to your athlete.
Emails and the Locker Room
RosterBound emails your athlete about things like coach profile views and finished evaluations, and coach-view alerts also go to the parent email your athlete lists. Locker Room replies are public posts, not private messages.
Names in the Locker Room
In the Locker Room, visitors who aren't signed in see only a first name and last initial, with no photo.
Reporting
Signed-in members can report any post or reply, and RosterBound staff review reports.
Fans and backers
Signed-in fans can back public athletes, but backing doesn't show them any private information.
