What an advocate is
An advocate is someone an athlete invites to support their recruiting: a family member, trainer, mentor or coach. Advocates can follow the athlete's progress and help them get seen. They don't make decisions for the athlete or change their profile.
A backer is anyone, including fans, who publicly backs an athlete from their profile. Backing doesn't need an invite.

1. Accept your invite
- Open the invite email from RosterBound and click the link.
- Create an account with the same email the invite was sent to, or click Log in if you already have one. The invite is accepted when you sign in.
- You'll land on your Advocate Dashboard.
2. Your advocate dashboard
For each athlete you support, you'll see:
- View Profile to open their profile,
- Recruiting Progress: views, uploaded videos, level fit and target schools, all view only,
- Copy Link and Share to pass their profile on,
- their parent-approval status and any coach endorsements.
What you can't see or do: edit their profile, see their private contact details or Recruiting Info, approve publishing (only a parent or legal guardian can), or contact coaches on their behalf.
3. How to help
- Share the public profile with coaches, trainers and contacts you know. Copy Link makes it easy.
- Encourage the monthly tasks. Ask what's on their calendar this month.
- Help with film. Recording games and cutting a highlight reel is a great job for a supporter.
- Back them publicly (see below), and invite friends and family to do the same.
4. Back This Athlete
Anyone can back an athlete:
- Open the athlete's public profile and click Back this Athlete.
- If you don't have an account yet, you'll be taken to sign up as a Fan / Supporter. It's free.
- After signing up, you're returned to the athlete's profile and your backing is counted.
The athlete sees their backers on their dashboard under Your Backers. You can stop backing at any time from the same button.
FAQ
Can I edit their profile? No. Only the athlete can edit their profile, and RosterBound staff review it.
Can I see their contact details? No. Contact details are shown only to verified college coaches, the athlete's own verified coach and RosterBound staff.
How do I stop following an athlete? Ask the athlete to remove you, or contact RosterBound through the Contact Us page.
Is it free? Yes, for advocates, backers, athletes and families.
